KATE BARKER SPEAKS AT LAKESIDE BRIEFING
Kate Barker, member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, was the guest speaker at the latest Lakeside Business Briefing held at our 1000 Lakeside building in Portsmouth on 12 January.
The nine members of the Monetary Policy Committee each make several visits to the countries and regions of the UK during the year to get a first-hand impression of the local economy.
Kate Barker’s speech at 1000 Lakeside was part of her two-day visit to Portsmouth, Fareham and Guildford, which included meetings with a range of Bank contacts and others in business and industry. Ms Barker was accompanied by Chris Piper and Andrew Holder, the Bank’s Agent and Deputy Agent for Central Southern England.
Around 100 regional business people attended the Lakeside event, which was sponsored by 1000 Lakeside, Vail Williams, Handelsbanken and Verisona.
